Even though we have had a very unusual winter, with very little moisture and higher than normal temperatures, we still have had a somewhat natural garden cycle. Dr. Tae Yun Kim has showed us, through the example of plants, that pruning is a very necessary thing.

With roses and other plants, you prune to stimulate new physical growth.  They cannot grow properly, unless you do this.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim explains that it is the same thing with people.  We have to prune our old habits, our old thoughts, we have to get rid of the things in our lives we don’t want, so that we can grow and achieve new things!

I love the way Dr. Tae Yun Kim teaches – she not only points those things out at Jung Suwon in the Do Jang, but then invites us in her garden, to show through examples.  It is easy to show through plants.  The first picture above, shows the completely pruned rose bush.

And here, right in Dr. Kim’s garden, you can already see the new growth starting!

And this is the current state:

As Dr. Kim explains, only when we prune, we’ll have beautiful flowers!  “In our lives, only when we prune our bad habits, and our old ways of thinking we will be able to achieve our visions and dreams!”
