This time of year, I should write about the incredible harvest in the garden, and sure enough, Dr. Tae Yun Kim‘s vegetable garden is growing out of bounds!
So when I was walking through the garden, admiring the beautiful ripe zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and many more, I also noticed some weeds side by side with the vegetables. I realized that in nature everything has its place; and nobody is competing with anyone else. A dandelion isn’t jealous of a fruit tree, each plant does its part, fulfill its destiny, without self pity. It just does what it was meant to do, and is what it is meant to be! They certainly don’t have a negative inner dialog going on!
This reminded me of Dr. Tae Yun Kim‘s words from her book “Seven Steps to Inner Power,”
“Do you address yourself lovingly or is your inner dialogue constantly self-critical? Do you know when you are being abusive to yourself? Part of practicing patience is being respectful toward yourself and forgiving yourself. If you catch yourself being impatient, doubting yourself, or constantly criticizing yourself with self-destructive energy, you know it’s time to have a heart to heart talk with yourself. Go to a mirror, look yourself right in the eyes, and remind yourself that you deserve to attain the goals you have set for yourself.” (page 237.)
So next time you are out in nature, let’s really see what is happening, and learn from it!
