As always, Dr. Tae Yun Kim reminds us that whenever you would like to try some natural healing methods, please check with your doctor first, to make sure it’s the right thing for you, and be aware that in your particular case it may not have the desired effect.

Hawthorn flower, with a busy bee making sure we get fruit!

Dr. Tae Yun Kim is growing several of these Hawthorn trees.  The small red, apple like fruits have been known for thousands of years for the following benefits: Helps lower high blood pressure; helps lessen heart failure; helps prevent Angina; general heart health; general digestive health; and is full of antioxidants.

There are many different ways to use Hawthorn fruit; but Dr. Tae Yun Kim recommends the simplest of them all: fresh Hawthorn tea.

First, make sure you identify them correctly and you know what they are.  Then wash them very well, and cut them in half.  It’s best if you take out the seeds first, but you could strain them out later as well.

For a good tasting and healing tea, use 4 cups of water with about 5-6 fruits, more if you like a more intense flavor.

Boil for about 10 minutes, on lower heat, and then enjoy a great tasting, lightly rose colored healing tea, that you can drink hot or cold!  If you like it sweeter, add a few drops of maple syrup or honey.  Don’t you feel better already?
