My Dear Friends,
As I watch the news every day, many negative images and stories surround me. If I let it, it could be depressing. I know that many of you feel that way, too.
Whether it is the state of the world or the state of your life, know that you have the power to decide how you want to react to it. Don’t let your environment influence or overcome your feelings. Learn to take charge of your life and your surroundings…and how you feel about them. That is true freedom.
Wildlife is one of the most perfect examples of freedom. Birds are free to fly wherever their instincts take them, to the highest mountain or to the water’s edge. Bears, rabbits, deer and animals of all sizes find food and shelter in their own individual ways.
The sun shines faithfully and warmly no matter what happens on the planet below. Rivers continue flowing through their native surroundings. Beauty is everywhere. The clouds, wind, rainbows, butterflies, light filtered through the forest trees – all come together in a beautiful picture of harmony.
You are part of this. Your freedom, beauty, and originality are the same as for nature. You are an individual, unique and special. You have distinct talents and abilities. If you learn about your inner power in my books or through the martial arts of Jung SuWon, you realize that you have the power to create your own freedom. “Living free” means that you put your freedom into action. You are the one in charge of the direction of your life.
You can’t control everything that happens in this world. But when you live free, you control how you respond to the world. You control who you are, what you think and how you feel. Freedom means you express your power to realize your goals and desires, so that nothing can take away your natural joy to be alive.
